While I was waiting for some fixative to dry on my chalk drawing, I decided to tackle an oil pastel piece that I had started.  It was going along just fine despite all the chaos and noise;  I worked out some of the background and brought out more highlights-adding some detail.  I was trying to work the whole picture instead of detailing in small areas.  I got to a small face that needed some features.........I got  everything almost the way I wanted it ......and then managed to totally botch it up.  I had to blank the face once again.  OMG.   It just seemed like everything just got louder and every child ran faster and bumped into more things.  More questions were asked of me and more demands made of me all at once... and Bam!,  there went what I had accomplished.  I had already spent more time on this than I usually need to.  I was using the world's largest pastel to do the tiniest of faces.  I had a certain look in mind and it ended up, somehow turning its head and eyes at me with a huge round face.  I guess it was one of those times that I just needed to get away from what I was working on sooner than what I did.  I can usually work and block out distractions--in fact,  those same distractions are considered music to my ears most of the time.  I think I just blew a head gasket or something.  Sometimes,  I just want to build myself a climate controlled, bug free, well lit, cave with soundproofing and a huge lock.

My room is small and full of other peoples junk.  My homing pigeon child has taken the spare room.  The living room is far too populated.  I was in the dining room aka Grand Central Station. 

I now have the botched up piece covered with a sketchbook,  in fact all my work is either facing away or covered lol.

Perhaps tomorrow I will be able to focus.

Maybe my next project will be that cave........
